Droid Incredible stripped, re-clothed

from Android and Me by Matt Demers

Droid Incredible stripped, re-clothed: ”

I’ve never been one for disassembly videos (why break it when you can use it?), but this stop-motion stripping off a Droid Incredible has me feeling a bit giddy.

The video goes from unboxing to reassembly with much higher production values than that kid down the street with a screwdriver and a hammer; props to the guys at TechRestore for going the extra mile.

Xperia X10 hardware hands-on

from Android Central by Phil Nickinson

Xperia X10 hardware hands-on: ”

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10

Sony Ericsson smartphones — Android or otherwise — generally come down to two things: above-average hardware hobbled by overreaching, underpowered software. And that trend continues with the Xperia X10. (See our previous hands-on with the X10.)

After the break, we take a look at the X10’s better half — the hardware. The X10 sports a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 4-inch TVT LCD touchscreen, 1GB of ROM/512MB of RAM, and an 8-megapixel camera. Oh, and one thing we didn’t bother with — testing multitouch — because the phone just won’t do it. Period. That’s not a deal-breaker, but … We’ll tackle the X10’s Achilles heel — the software — later.

Hands-on with the Motorola i1 iDEN Android phone on Sprint

from Android Central by Phil Nickinson

Hands-on with the Motorola i1 iDEN Android phone on Sprint: ”

Motorola i1 on Sprint

The good news is that those of you who have to have Nextel’s push-to-talk service and have been dying for an Android phone can now have it in the Motorola i1. Otherwise, there’s not a whole lot to get excited about here.

It’s a pretty basic candybar-style phone, running Android 1.5. It feels just fine in the had, through the software runs a little slow (that could just be a demo thing) and feels a little underpowered. But, again, it’s the first iDEN Android phone (or the “World’s only,” depending on who you ask), and that’s no small thing. But unless you absolutely have to have push-to-talk, you’ll likely be looking elsewhere.

Hands-on video and pics after the break.
