Well, since my last post, some more great Catholic apps have trickled onto the Android. (and I do mean trickle). Let’s take a look.
One that is not really a Catholic app, but a Christian App with Catholic content is the Bible Reader from Olivetree. This is a simple Bible Reader App that I use, it has both the Douay Rheims (free) and the NAB (not free) available it even has the Clementine Vulgate as well as the Latin (St. Jerome) Vulgate, as well as any number of other translations.
Next is the “Daily Readings” app from Aycka Soft, that is exactly what it says. It is the daily readings from the mass as well as daily reflections from Don Schwager’s website. It also has the Mass prayers. Not as complete as imissal, but better than your average missal in the pews.
Then co mes a pretty sparse offering called “Lectio Divina” a fairly simple app that offers the daily readings as well as the saint whose feast day it is. The downside to this app is that it appears to be merely a front for the browser. So unlike ibreviary or Scincere Prayer, it doesn’t download the readings into your phone (great for those of us who place our phones in “airplane mode” during Mass.
As I said, the apps are just trickling in, hopefully we will see a burst of offerings like there is for the iphone.

Toshiba world’s lightest 13-inch laptop
Posted: 08 May 2010 07:02 AM PDT

What I like about a netbook is it’s ultra lightweight but the screen size of 10 inches is sometime too small for some applications. But if you carry a notebook with a 13-inch screen size, it’ll definitely weigh more than 1 kg and is even much heavier with the battery on. If you prefer a notebook that has at least screen size of 13 inches but weighs under 1 kg, Toshiba may soon have what you need.
Toshiba was said to be making the world’s lighest 13-inch notebook that will weigh under 1 kg. The Toshiba’s 13-inch notebook will also boast a 16:9 aspect ratio for its screen, it’ll pack 500GB HDD or optional 513GB SSD, 4GB RAM and offer CPU options of Intel Core i3, i5, and i7.
This Toshiba notebook will also come equipped with the Toshiba SCiB battery, the kind of battery that takes 10 minutes to reach 90% capacity. With the 13-inch screen size, the super lightweight, and the quick charging time, this Toshiba’s 13-inch notebook is definitely a dreamed machine for geeks on the run. Hope it isn’t just a rumor.

I bought this for my 5-year-old who is a lego fanatic. It was challenging for him the first time he put it together with some frustrating moments – likely because he’s 5, but he still did it by himself within the day.He flies this ship and others all day long, bombs it, crashes it and now has no problem rebuilding it over-and-over again quickly. Its been weeks and he still plays with this daily along with other lego star wars ships and sets.

Not much here in the way of verifiable detail but we’re hearing that a CDMAified Nexus One is en route to Verizon (or Google’s warehouses, anyway) from HTC’s factories. The Economic Daily News (EDN) adds that Verizon will begin to “market” Google’s superphone this month or in April at the earliest which lends some credibility to that March 23rd date tossed about previously. As for the Vodafone branded handset; EDN says HTC will ship it “soon” — something we’ve been hearing since January.

Frequently Asked Questions Q: Do you have to have a Google account to use T-Mobile G1? A: Yes, customers must log into the phone using a Google account login when they first use the device. Once you do log into T-Mobile G1 using a Google account, your Gmail and Google Calendar will all sync to your phone providing secure, up-to-date access to your personal information. If you don’t already have an account, the startup process will walk you through creating one. Creating a Google account is free.
Q: Do customers need a voice and/or data plan to use T-Mobile G1? A: Yes, when you purchase T-Mobile G1, you must add one of two T-Mobile G1-specific data plans to their account. This is similar to other all-in-one devices we offer like the T-Mobile Sidekick or the T-Mobile Shadow. Customers must also have a voice plan.
Q: Is the G1 compatible with your HotSpot @Home service? A: No. Unlimited HotSpot Calling (formerly named T-Mobile HotSpot @Home) is not included in the T-Mobile G1, although the device can browse the Web over high-speed wireless connections including Wi-Fi and our 3G network.
Q: Are there any advantages to using Gmail on the device versus another type of personal (POP3 or IMAP) account? A: Yes. Anything you do on the phone with these products will seconds later become available on the computer and vice versa. If you were to ever lose their phone, their information will still be available and seamlessly synchronize with a replacement G1. You will also benefit from push email and calendar alerts (this is also available for the multi-headed email client). Finally, Gmail’s contacts are synchronized automatically with the phone’s contact list.
Q: What is the “search from everywhere” feature? A: “Search from everywhere” provides customers the ability to do contextual searches. T-Mobile G1 has a hard key on the QWERTY keyboard that you can touch in order to start a search within any application you are in. For example, if you are in your contact list and hit the search key, the device will search your contact list. If you are in your email and you hit the search key, the device will search your email. You can also start a search within each application through a search option within the application. Read more

The Daily Shoot for today was: Electronic gadgets pervade our world. You’ve probably got several. Make a photo of your favorite gadget today.
Since my little blue Acer netbook has been in several photos already, I decided it had to be my new Droid. I really like my Droid, but I still don’t fully understand it. I have trouble answering it one handed, because of the lock feature, and there are many things I still don’t know how to do. I am having fun learning though.
